Avengers: Age of Ultron is the sequel to 2012's The Avengers and the fifth film in Phase 2 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (after Guardians of the Galaxy,
Captain America : The Winter Soldier and last year's Iron Man 3 and
Thor: The Dark World).
The movie opens with The Avengers raiding a Hydra base in Sokovia commanded by Strucker and
they retrieve Loki's scepter. They also discover that Strucker had been
conducting experiments with the orphan twins Pietro Maximoff AKA Quicksilver (Aaron
Taylor-Johnson), who can move at superhuman speed., and Wanda Maximoff AKA Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth
Olsen), who can harness magic and engage in hypnosis and telekinesis.
Tony Stark (Robert
Downey Jr.) discovers an Artificial Intelligence in the scepter and
convinces Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) to secretly help him to transfer
the Artifical Intelligence. to his Ultron peacekeeping program. However, the Ultron understands
that is necessary to destroy mankind to save the planet, attacks the
Avengers and flees to Sokovia with the scepter. He builds an armature
for self-protection and robots for his army and teams up with the
twins. The Avengers go to Clinton Barton's house to recover, but out of
the blue, Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) arrives and convinces them to
fight against Ultron. Will they succeed?
Director Joss Whedon has done a very good job in bringing back the mightiest heroes of earth. Unlike its prequel The Avengers, Age of Ultron has a darker tone and the it is filled with mind blowing action sequences, comic one liners and deep emotions. The VFX & 3D offers a visual treat to the audience.
All the actors have done a great job. Chris Evans is outstanding as Steve
Rogers/Captain America. Evans keeps getting better & better with each
portrayal of America's first superhero.Robert Downey Jr. is spectacular as Tony Stark/Iron Man. Chris Hemsworth is awesome as Thor. Hemsworth balances the
God of Thunder's wit & seriousness with ease. Mark Ruffalo is brilliant
as Bruce Banner/The Hulk. Ruffalo's killing it as both the mild
mannered scientist & the 'other guy'. Scarlett Johansson is amazing
as Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow. Johansson portrays a more vulnerable
Nat, this time around. The romance between Natasha and Bruce were executed very well. Jeremy Renner is great as Clint Barton/Hawkeye.This time the character is given more importance than the last time. Aaron Taylor-Johnson & Elizabeth Olsen are super as Pietro
Maximoff/Quicksilver & Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch. The Maximoff twins
are a welcome addition to the Avengers universe. Paul Bettany is
excellent & unrecognizable as Jarvis/Vision. James Spader is the
perfect combination of intimidating, powerful, terrifying & funny as
Ultron. Cobie
Smulders is impressive as Maria Hill. Samuel L. Jackson is as always perfect as
Nick Fury.
Overall Avengers: Age of Ultron is visually enthralling as it is emotionally
profound. The movie is a treat to its fans and action movie lovers.
